As startup founder, I believe the most important thing is having a team that loves to learn. Startups begin with a spark — an idea, a belief, a vision. They spring into existence to do something that not many other companies are doing. No matter how great your business idea may be, you won’t get very far if you don’t have the right people to turn your ideas into reality. Continue reading The Startup Team that Learns from Life
Some 13,000 years ago, a young woman walked into a cave looking for water. One misstep is all it took for her to fracture her hip and drown. That’s what scientists discovered as they dived into Hoyo Negro and found her skeleton – a time capsule preserving a unique record of the Ice Age on the American continent. Continue reading Naia: The Water Nymph of Hoyo Negro
I come from a family of entrepreneurs. Difficult circumstances and a lack of equal opportunities is what drove them to start businesses. For most of my life, I always thought that entrepreneurship was a byproduct of struggle and overcoming obstacles. No one I know ever set out to be a business person. It was the natural course of events that led them to it. And this is why Silicon Valley baffles me so much. Continue reading The Silicon Valley Crowd: my cynical first impressions
I intended to go to the Yougle Lama Temple, but I got seriously lost. No surprises there – my sense of direction is terrible. Imagine Dory from Finding Nemo. Yes. That’s how hopeless I am. I stopped to ask a police officer for help who told me I was walking in the opposite direction. No surprises there either. And whilst making my way back, I found Confucius Temple. Initially, I thought it was going to be just another one of those picturesque places – but man was I mistaken. Continue reading Day 2 in Hutong, Beijing: Confucius Temple, Imperial Academy, Tibetan Food and Yonghe Lama Temple
This event was organised by idiots. It all started when I booked the ticket. I had to fill up a form to book the ticket, fill up a form to prove I had paid for the ticket and then send three emails to the event organiser about why I hadn’t received the ticket. FUN ISN’T IT? I would rather teach at kindergarten than deal with Live Create ever again. Despite the fact that there were a whole host of international speakers, information was not available in English. Yipeee! But that wasn’t the main problem…They’re disorganised organisers. Forgive the pun. Continue reading Robert Kiyosaki in Tokyo: Day 1 Wealth Master Congress Japan 2017
Samsara, karma and moksha are three concepts that make up some of the main tenets of Hinduism. Samsara is the belief that all living beings are bound to the cycle of birth, death and rebirth. The temporary body – which is born and must die – is the vehicle for the eternal soul. Humans – and other living beings – will continue to participate in this cycle of death and rebirth till moksha or liberation from the cycle of life and death. Moksha is seen by many as the ultimate spiritual goal in Hinduism. As to how one can reach moksha liberation – there are disagreements, even amongst Hindus (and Buddhists) as to how to reach this goal. Continue reading Reincarnation and the Bhagavad Gita
Put five bright and promising kids together in the same group and they put their heads together and accomplish amazing things. Group one bright kid with four less capable kids and he/she spends way too much time and energy compensating for everyone else at great personal detriment. I wish it were different, but that’s just the way it is. Continue reading The Chariot: choose your companions wisely (Part 2)
Bullying is a huge problem during the teenage years. There are a wide variety of factors that contribute to this issue. But from my experience – a vast majority of boys that get bullied in school tend to have overprotective and over nurturing mothers who refuse to let them grow up. Not only is this smothering debilitating for the child – it is also a huge turn off for any woman who decides to date him. Continue reading The Chariot: the transition from childhood to adolescence
