Mama, I’m Coming Home

I’m back home for a week. I can’t say I was particularly excited by the thought of coming home. My heart was filled with a mixture of both dread and a wee bit of excitement. The latter mainly due to all the yummy food I’m going to eat. And man do we Singaporeans love to eat.

I’m mostly here because I’ve got a whole heap of paperwork I need to do before getting back to Japan. Whenever I’m on a flight home, I wind up listening to Ozzy Ozbourne’s Mama I’m Coming Home. It’s such an atypical Ozzy song. It’s soft. Vulnerable. Nostalgic. It’s the only song of his that’s etched into my memory.

Times have changed and times are strange
Here I come, but I ain’t the same

Yea – times really are strange. I’m all grown up. But this time I really feel it. The past three and a half years in Japan have really groomed and shaped me into myself. It seems like an odd thing to say – to be shaped and groomed to be yourself – but that’s exactly how I feel.

We had lunch at Imperial Treasure at Ion today. I’ve been going there for so many years but it isn’t till recently that the Michelin Star people have caught up and given it all those stars. Singapore really is a food lovers’ paradise. The restaurant serves Teochew style Chinese food.

I approve.

Till next time – sweet dreams.
